Industrial Acoustic Imaging Camera

The FLIR Si124 is an intelligent, easy-to-use imaging system designed to visually display pressure leaks in compressed air systems and to identify partial discharge problems in high voltage electrical systems. Its lightweight design and one-handed operation provide beneficial assistance to manufacturing and professional engineers to identify performance loss and failure potential up to 10 times faster than traditional methods.

Built with 124 microphones and a frequency range covering audio and ultrasound (2 kHz to 65 kHz), the Si124 filters out industrial background noise to produce accurate acoustic images. The acoustic image is overlaid in real time on top of a digital camera image, which allows the user to pinpoint the source of the sound and classify problems.

The Si124 features a new plug-in that allows users to import acoustic images into FLIR Thermal Studio software for offline processing, analysis and advanced reporting. Field analysis and reporting can also be done using the FLIR Acoustic Camera Viewer cloud Service. By adopting the FLIR Si124 as part of a regular maintenance routine, professionals can identify problems quickly—helping businesses keep power flowing and manufacturing operations going.

Teledyne FLIR has expanded its acoustic imaging category with two additional models of the FLIR Si124 industrial acoustic imaging camera: the Si124-LD, specifically for compressed air leak detection, and the Si124-PD, for partial discharge detection in high-voltage electrical systems. This extension provides additional, customized solutions for different end-user needs, from utility infrastructure to facility environments, at a fraction of the cost.

The FLIR Si124-PD and Si124-LD devices also include easy-to-use built-in analytics accessed through a web portal via the FLIR Acoustic Camera Viewer cloud service. This software enables users to perform quick diagnostic tasks and conduct deeper analysis. With this data, Si124-PD users can determine the severity of partial discharge problems in high-voltage equipment, improving power grid reliability. Likewise, the Si124-LD model helps users determine the severity of compressed air leaks, potentially saving tens of thousands of dollars in energy costs.

Si124-PD for partial discharge detection:
The new Si124-PD features automatic electrical fault classification for partial discharge issues such as surface discharge, floating discharge and air discharge. With the PD Severity Assessment software feature, users can also enter component type, equipment voltage, and component distance to get a severity rating specific to those parameters. This feature is included in the FLIR Acoustic Camera Viewer cloud software. Additionally, users can safely locate problems from distances of up to 130 meters (430 feet) with the flexibility to operate the device with one hand. Operators can also easily check images on the screen, even in bright, outdoor conditions.

Si124-LD for compressed air leak detection:
The Si124-LD features real-time, on-device leak size and cost analysis, allowing users to instantly see the leak rate on screen as it happens, in either liters per minute (l/min) or cubic feet per minute (CFM ) and quantify the size of the leak. This feature provides a quick assessment of how much air is being lost and the estimated cost savings from fixing the problem. By incorporating the Si124-LD as part of a routine maintenance program, organizations can extend the life and performance of existing compressors, while reducing the need to install new units and reducing electricity costs.
